Your Posse is a volunteer Neighborhood Patrol dedicated to the safety and protection of the residents and their property in the Sun City Vistoso community in Oro Valley. Your Posse is organized into five squads. Each squad is scheduled for a week of patrol shifts every five weeks. For the sake of security, our goal is to provide two Posse members, in each of our two vehicles, on two shifts, 361 days a year. (We take off for Christmas Eve and Day and New Year's Eve and Day.) This means that we must cover 2888 patrol shifts each year. That's the reason we are always looking for residents, both long-time and new, to join our Posse rolls so that we have the resources to cover all of our shifts. This is an excellent and easy way to help your community. The Posse works closely with the Oro Valley Police Department (OVPD) to ensure safety and security in Sun City. OVPD representatives attend each Posse Board meeting and provides valuable information on how the Posse can better patrol our neighborhood . OVPD also offers seminars and other training opportunities to Posse members each year. The OVPD provides backup and support for each Posse shift. Posse members on Neighborhood Patrols identify situations that require investigation but are not empowered or expected to act in a law enforcement capacity. In fact, Posse members are asked to remain in their vehicle and dial 911 to call an OVPD squad whenever they see something suspicious or need assistance.
